Texarkana Gastroenterology Consultants proudly announces the opening of their Ambulatory Infusion Center

 

Texarkana Gastroenterology Consultants recently opened an Ambulatory Infusion Center to provide its patients with a comfortable, convenient, cost-effective choice to receive treatments.

"We're trying to expand our services for our patients," said Dr. Laura Balmain, a gastroenterologist and provider at Texarkana Gastroenterology. "In the past we've had to send patients out for this service but now we're offering it here in our office locally."

The infusion treatments are primarily for patients with inflammatory bowel diseases like Crohn's or ulcerative colitis. They are also able to give treatments for certain types of arthritis, iron deficiency and people who've become dehydrated due to a GI illness.

The infusions are monitored by a registered nurse.

"Our suite has four reclining chairs with tables. We have TVs so they can be comfortable while they're having their infusion. We even have snacks for them," Balmain said.

There are several advantages to receiving infusions at Texarkana Gastroenterology as opposed hospitals.

"It's less expensive, more convenient and  more personal and comfortable environment. We can always do it less expensive than anywhere else," Balmain said.

The Infusion Center adds to the services Texarkana Gastroenterology Consultants have been providing since 1994. Other services offered include treating disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, liver, pancreas and colon. The group currently has five physicians, two mid-level providers. In 2006, the group moved from a small office to its current 15,000 square foot facility at 1920 Moores Lane, Texarkana, Texas which includes clinic space, a new pathology lab and a licensed 7,500 square foot state-of-the-art endoscopy center.

The Endoscopy Center of Texarkana is licensed by the state of Texas, certified as a Medicare provider, and performs thousands of procedures each year. The center offers a spacious reception area for patients and family and our three state of the art procedure rooms allowing patients to have procedures performed in the most comfortable and efficient manner.
